Check http://www.info.gov.hk/info/ph2006.htm

and you'll see the dates for general holidays. You can then compare the list of general holidays with the list of stat holidays at http://www.labour.gov.hk/eng/faq/cap57f_whole.htm


Not all general holidays are stat holidays as far as I can tell. Bottom line though is your helper is correct.
