helper wants to travel to the USA

My Helper wants to travel alone to the USA. I have emailed the USA consulate for advice but there answer was not specific. They said her application would be assessed based on "having sufficiently strong family, social, or economic ties to their place of residence to ensure that their projected stay in the United States will be temporary".

The application process requires an $800 non refundable fee! I am happy to write her a supporting letter saying she is working for me and has an ongoing contract. She has family there however she has been told that this could go against her in the process - I guess they think she will not return to Hong Kong.

Has anyone any advice or suggestions on this process. Thanks

From what I've heard her having family already in the US will definitely count against her. I think all you can/shoulod do is write your supporting letter but don't offer to pay the fee and don't agree to sign anything as guarantor. Stranger things have happened...

She will need "references" from something like a JP to testify about her being a person of good moral character.

Several hundred thousand in her savings account and other properties/investment back to the Philippines -- sort of telling the consulate that she could afford to buy at least a section of the state before they will consider her application..in addition to the support letter etc that you will give.
