my helper is starting any day now but i need advise on the best way to start her off. currently, our household consists of just me and hubby. we both work full-time. we will be moving into a new place in may where the helper will live-in and i will be having my baby at the end of may. so the problem is, from now till may, the helper will live-out but what can i get her to do for the 6 weeks before we move, besides cleaning? won't she get bored? she can't go back to phillippines cos she will be waiting a few weeks for her new visa to be approved. any suggestions, much appreciated. :)

I was in the similar situation and had the similar questions. I am expecting and my helped came 2 weeks ago, it's only my hubby and I. Both of us work full time. We'd just moved into a new place with all brand new furniture.
Well, I didn't realize there are tons to clean besides clothes, such as, light fixtures, windows, etc. I didn't ask her to do so, but she just did.
Besides, she organized the baby room, my closet, my hubby's closet!
I dont think she works every minute while we are working but at the same time, once the baby is here, she won't have time anymore. So, I told her to relax a bit, as she will be extremely busy later on.
If she is a good cook, throw few dinner parties before the end of may. If she is not a good cook but you are, still throw ew dinner parties before the end of may. She can always help to prepare!
Hope this helps.

I think it is really important to give her a set list of chores to do prior to the baby coming, and a schedule of daily/weekly/monthly chores for after you move and after the baby.
You can also have her cook, and start cooking some bulk items for the freezer to make it easier after the baby (dumplings, spring rolls, spinach triangles, lasagna, soups, stews, even chopped fresh fruit for smoothies, etc...)
You can also have her clean the new place, and prepare for the move right before you move in.
She can also do your shopping (groceries and household items, cleaning items, etc...).
We have had a new helper a few weeks before baby#2, and we have done major spring cleaning, washing of everything (cushion covers, sofa covers), polish and wax of floors, cleaning of windows, exhaust fans, relining shelf paper, etc... because we know that as soon as baby comes (probably this week) there will be no time for these things until our second helper arrives in 6-8 weeks.
