First Time Hiring DH - Need Help

Hi there,

We are hiring a full time helper (Philippino) for the first time and really need some help on the following:

1) We need to put down the daily working hours on the contract - what do people normally put down? 8am-8pm? 7am-11pm?

2) We are thinking to pay $400 food allowance - should we pay another $100 for toiletries?

3) What about transportation? (We live in DB and our helper should not need to leave the island often, so it's just the bus fare like $3.5 each way; and I suppose if she leaves the island on Sunday she will have to bare her own transportation cost?)

4) We are expecting a baby in 6 months time. Do people normally give their DH a pay raise as there will be more work to do with a new born baby?

5) Do people normally offer plain clothes (like t-shirts and shorts?) for DH to wear in working hours so they don't wear anything inappropriate?

6) Is it a good idea to give a list of duties or a daily/weekly/monthly scedule to DH?

Your advice is much appreciated. Many thanks!

Thanks Green, thanks, TC. This is very helpful.

Also, do you know what I should do about medical insurance and worker compensation insurance for DH? Are they the same thing?

Thanks!
