Hi. I just signed the contract with my new helper. (22nd Oct). Problem is she overstayed. (we overlooked). So she exits to Macau for a night. Came back the following morning & had a tourist visa valid for 14 days. (expiry on 6th Nov)
I have sent letter to the immigration to speed up our process as we have just adopted a baby girl in HK. They replied it will take 2-3 weeks instead of the normal 6-8 weeks.
Question 1: If employment visa is not ready before 6th Nov, does she/ can she exit to Macau again & get another tourist visa of 14 days on the way back?
Qn 2: If employment visa is ready before 6th Nov, does she still have to exit Macau or can she just go immigration tower & get the stamp (employment visa), & start work with me right away??
Thanks so much for any suggestions at all.

yes she can..most helper do that to avoid spending more if they go back to Philippines..then when visa approved just pick it up and send to macau or you come to macau and go back to HK together..

Thank you, alexismith for your reply. BTW, any idea where I can send the visa to in Macau??

Just a note on this. There are apparently new rules curtailing exit to Macao. I have heard of several helpers and visitors being told as they exit/enter that Immigration will no longer be allowing this method.
Do call Immigration and check.
Bummer. :(

I talked with the immigration officer. He advised me to give the helper a support letter, explaining that she is waiting for our work visa, & also a photocopy of the acknowledgement card from immigration. Just in case the control point wonders why she has been in & out of HK/ Macau several times, she can explain she is waiting for our work visa to be processed.
Appreciate your advice , axptguy:)

Filipino passport holder if they come to Macau they get one month visa stamp on their passport..

That's not the issue. The issue is "slipping out to Macao" for a day to extend the stay in HK.

That's right, the whole idea is to extend the stay in HK, for 14 days with tourist visa...until the work visa is ready for collection.
