Is there a minimum length for employment contract? We were introduced to a helper in our bldg whose current contract expires in Aug and her employers are leaving the country so we'd like to hire her. This would be our first fulltime helper so we're really new to this. Is there a sample contract we could look at? We appreciate any advice!!

If you go to our main helper channel there is a contract online there. Your helper will likely know the ropes on getting this sorted out - just fill it out and let her handle submitting it

And to answer your specific question...there's only one contract term for hiring foreign domestic helpers - 2 years.

If you are wanting to employ a foreign domestic helper, the Immigration Department website has a FAQs section which answers most common questions:

There is also a sample contract and a downloadable guidebook. If you have further questions, a telephone call to the Immigration Department can be made and I've found the officers quite helpful and patient.
