Anyone know of any bparding houses in the Tung Chung area? Also, what is the general cost of a room in a boarding house?

Thanks.

This government site lists all the licensed hotels, guesthouses, and bedspaces in Hong Kong. There are no listings for Lantau.

Perhaps have a look on the noticeboards in the supermarkets there. Someone might have a room to rent, although it won't be legal or meet legal safety requirements.

Claire,

It's my guess (and probably yours too?) that it's for a live-out (that's a gimmee) foreign (else he/she could live at home) domestic helper. Most of the boarding houses that accommodate FDHs in HK are illegal and therefore wouldn't be listed on that site. And we wouldn't want to aid anyone trying to engage in illegal activities, would we?!!!

TC> you may well be stating the obvious, which is why I mentioned the legality of the accommodation. But really if an employer chooses to break the law by having their FDH live-out, it's between them and their conscience... oh and the immigration department and the courts and the judges.
