after 7 months of service,i was terminated and was asked to go down from the house at 11pm.i asked him(employer) if i can stay at home for overnight 'coz i have nowhere to go if i'll go out at that time but he answered me to go immediately after 30 minutes of packing up.without any choice left,i have just done what he asked me to do.he handed me my paycheck then i left.

are they humane for their actions?

well,think of it...

that sounds quite scary and horrible and i sympathise. can you give some background to this story? how come he asked you to leave so late? was there an arguement? it seems very bad to ask someone to leave in the middle of the night. my sympathies

That is very bad. I am so sorry that happened to you. Some people just have no compassion. There is a legal service for helpers to obtain information about your rights. Its free of charge and might provide you with a bit more protection. I hope you get a new employer who treats you with respect and care and you never go through such a bad experience again.

I knew someone who was a really nice DH and her emplyers here in HK where abhornet.

They found out somehow she was applying for a job in Canada (which she got in the end incidently) and to be completely nasty timed it so she was booted out at the worst possible time due to the visa waiting issue etc.

But here's the same thing, 1/2 hr notice and boted her out on the street.

Meeting these employers (their veneer and professions) you'd think they were such a nice couple, and incapable of anything so nasty. "Ma'am and Sir" were a nasty piece of work (Ma'am mainly really) - perhaps it is the same ones?

BlueJust, we don't know why you were terminated. Still if I ever had to terminate my helper it wouldn't be like that except for very very serious offences. My previous helper came home drunk and dropped by baby when he was 6 months old. But we still gave her a month's notice as she had 6 kids and her husband dind't have a job...
