Hi, I am waiting for my working visa to be approved in the next week. Immigration informed my sponsoring company that since my passort expires in Jan 2014 they can only grant a visa up until that date. This means my first visa will be approx 5 and a half months..

I have done some research and this means I am not entitled to acquire a HKID card.

I would like to know if I can still hire a helper?

The guide states I just need to be a resident. I assume if I have a working visa I am a resident even if I don't have a HKID.

My position is a permenant job based in Hong Kong without any contractual end date.

I will be earning over the $15,000 per month income qulification and will need someone to care for my dog when I bring her over as well as cooking and cleaning for me .

I will have ($200,00 HKD in assets) to cover the contractual 2 year period as well.

Am I eligable?

Thanks in advance

Cam

Wouldn't it be better - and more reliable - to ask directly at the immigration department?
