Annual visit to Philippines Consulate

My DH told me this morning she needs to go to the consulate to sign something she does annually for the (Philippines) FBI? Then she came back in the afternoon to say she needs a reference to work in Canada - something she has never mentioned before in the past.


Is she playing me for a fool about the FBI thing? I think she wanted the time off to apply for the Canada thing.

Looks like your helper is one of the ones looking to go and work in Canada. Becoming more and more common. You ought to ask her what her intentions are b/c when her paperwork for Canada is finished whe will leave you perhaps without enough notice to replace her. Unfortunately happens frequently.

BTW, the only thing that I know about signing is the OFW (overseas foreign woroker) paper that a DH signs right before leaving.

Well my suspicions were correct. She was lying about the annual visit to the consulate - it was related to finding employment in Canada which she didn't disclose for fear of us firing her (we would not have). This means the trust in our relationship is damaged, which isn't good for her given that she now needs a reference letter from us. We aren't satisfied with her work either - it's got worse presumably because she was banking on leaving to go to Canada. So we now have a maid we can't trust and she thinks she's lost the chance of a better life in Canada.
