Is this legitimate?

Hi all,

I've just moved into a new flat on Lantau, and have only nearly finished unpacking all my stuff. However everything is just so dusty and disgusting. I just want a maid to come for a one off before I get myself really settled there and just give it a really good clean.

Has anyone got any suggestions instead of going through an agency. I just want it this one time, then after that I will try to take care by myself. Is this legitimate only asking for one time??

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Basically, you can't legally hire a Filipina helper for a one-off to help you with your moving related cleaning (unless the Filipina helper happens to hold a permanent resident card).

You can go to companies like Merry Maids and Sparkle Maids, they have exactly this kind of service. But they are expensive (about $100 per hour) and not always reliable (see my comments in other thread!).

Put put a notice on your local supermarket notice board to advertise for a couple of helpers for a day, to work legally, especially on a Sunday, and you will be inundated with offers from Filippinas. They are likely to tell you that they are able to work legally on Sundays, but they would say that wouldn't they. Regardless, it's highly unlikely that anyone would find out.

...and probably none of them doing it legally. Whatever you do if you break the law you have to be prepared to face the consequences IF caught.
