Has anyone had any experience with Merry Maids? We don't want a full time / live in helper, but need about 10-15 hours of cleaning / ironing a week. Merry Maid's rates look pretty good (about the same as "freelance" helpers charge). Are they reliable? Are their maids competent/honest? Do they treat the maids well or do they exploit them? Any other organisations providing this type of service? If anyone has had dealings with Merry Maids or another agency, would appreciate the benefit of your experience.

We've used Merry Maids. I don't know how they are treated, so can't speak to that.
We've had about four different maids come in for different weeks, and they all are perfectly nice, etc. Some do a better job than others, but that's to be expected since they're human. The person who handles the bookings seems nice as well, although we deal mostly with her online and in occasional phone calls. That's all I can tell you, as our experience is limited and we're only using them temporarily. Good luck.

I have been using merry maids for about a year in HK and had nothing but good experiences with them. I now have this lady called carol come in once a week and she is exceptional.

Had two both very good but stopped as they would only do a minimum of 4 hrs each session and I 'd rather 3 hrs as my apt. is small.

Merry Maid offers very good service and our helper has been really nice and clean. Highly recommended.

you have to remember that people would tend to only discuss problems they are having with their live-in DH, myself included. General view I think if you have kids or pets - you are much better with a live-in, if not - part-time if fine. With kids it gives you enormous amount of freedom that we would have never had in the UK. And of course they are much better value than part-time.

We have been using Merry Maid for over 1 year and they are good. We used the same maid every time and she is polite and hard working and they are local employee. We have tried using different part time maids (non domestic) whom are cheaper (as they have a full time job) but we found them less reliable and tends to rush things through...

I've been using Merry Maid before hiring our full time DH. Three things I would recommend:
- book in advance
- after several trials , select the cleaning lady you prefer and always book her
- usually cleaning ladies have very poor level of English, email they coordinator your requests and list of priorities (1 hr ironing, 2 hr cleaning the apartment - living room is most important, don't clean kitchen this time , etc) and it will save the trouble of explaining yourself on hands

Anyone use sparkle maids before? Compare to merry maids any differences? Which is better? The one I see is merry maids has to purchase cleaning kit but sparkle maids don't. Price of cleaning almost the same.
