Who should pay the contract verification fee of $297.50

Hi,


I'm now renewing my contract with my filipino maid. I understand I need to get the contract ID407 notorised by Philipines Consulate first, which cost $297.50. Can anyone tell me who should bear that cost? me or the helper? Thanks in advance.

I don't know about the law, but personally I would pay that myself. In my opinion, the prospective employee should not bear these kinds of costs. Also it's only 300 Honkies.

can imagine why helper should pay. and yes, how tight are you to get the helper to pay $300 - it is a lot of money for them

We had to do this when we run round doing self hire and also again when we employed our current helper. All contracts have to be notarised by the PH consulate. Why, well I have no idea......

You should read your copy of the green contract that you signed. it says very clearly what you need to pay. Look at #8
