Domestic going to Australia

ORIGINAL POST

A friend has moved to Australia for employment (from Hong Kong) and he wants to take his Domestic Helper (Philipina) to Sydney with him.

My understanding is that it is not possible. Does anyone have any experience in this regard? If she goes as a tourist, what length of time will she get a visa for?

Not that it should make any difference, but it's personal.

She will never get an Oz tourist visa once they see the FDH visa in her passport. Well, not until they're married.

TC,

Those holiday rules only apply when she is returning to work in HK (and therefore has an incentive to leave Oz).

If I understand OP's post correctly, her employment has now terminated, so those circs don't apply here.

So now, the visa officer's decision is whether or not to let an unemployed person with a third world passport and (presumably) no significant savings into a first-world country where Filipinas have statistically bad overstay records. There's only one way that decision is going to go.

Good news for my friend and his "DH".

She applied for a tourist visa at the Australian Consulate in Manila and was given a 2 year, multiple entry visa with a maximum stay each time of 3 months!
