Am I right in assuming that as our dh has only worked for us for 6 days that she does not get paid for taking Friday off?

Friday 1 July is a statutory holiday. I have a similar problem too, my DH is supposed to start on 1 July. Does she get that day off before she starts work???

In the list of Statutory holidays on yhe labour dept web site it says that Friday is a Statutory
holiday. Where can I find the list of general holidays?

Just to add to the confusion. Domestic helpers are required to have a day off for the 12 official statutory holidays but not for general public holidays. Of course you can give them the day off but they are not entitled to it under the law.
Zeta, your new employee is entitled to July one of but you are not obliged to pay her for it (of course (before I start getting in trouble!), you can pay her if you want to. You could also ask her to substitute the day off for another day that is mutually agreeable within 30 days of July 1st, aslong as you give her 48 hours notice of your wish to do so.

if your DH work over 3 months, then it's a holiday. If not, too bad!!!
