Shortening Processing Time

ORIGINAL POST

The immigration department told me it takes around 4 to 6 weeks for proceesing the paper but I was also told by some others that if I write to the immigration department and the processing time will be much shortened. For those who completed the contract, ppl said the helper can start immediately after finsihed their current contact. Is that true? And what should I write to the Immigration so that they can process the paper earlier.

well put it this way, EVERYONE wants their papers processed faster right? Unless you have a medical reason, or elderly, or emergency like you are pregnant, with 2 others kids, and giving birth soon, cannot work etc.....

like URGENT with legit reason, not just because you simply want your helper to arrive faster..... then you can try writing to the immigration to explain your urgent need. Good luck. I have heard it can be processed (overseas DH) in 3 weeks at the fastest.

For finished contract helpers, if they are willing to sign with you, yes, they can begin as soon as their papers are processed, they don't need to go back to their country of origin.

FYI because of the levy change, there are MANY MANY contracts that are processing and re-newing, so I have heard (from my friends) it could be longer to process than before.

good luck.

I was told today by my agent that my new helper has not even been processed and it has been more than 12 weeks!!! I have a valid reason to be urgent because I am a teacher and I start work this week, I told her that, she put in an urgent note for me. and now this?!!! i am at my wits end because I have 2 kids at home! The agent told me the immigration has been very busy doing all the levy work and therefore must have missed my application. what rubbish!! I gave her a deadline, i hoped to be with the helper for at least 2 weeks before I start work so I can see how my kids can get along with her. I have no idea what to do now!

Hi kara23. I'm exactly on the same situation as yours. I'm thinking of hiring a helper who will just finished her contract so it'll be much faster. I liked one helper but since she's terminated, I cannot wait that long for her. I'm also a teacher and i've 3 kids to look after.

xmauix, i cannot imagine someone else being in the same boat as i am! i hope everything works out for you! i am getting a helper who has just finished her contract, and yes, it is way way faster! I should have done it in the first place. as for the other one, we will just terminate it and treat it like we never processed it in the first place. All that waiting for nothing and my whole summer just slaving away at home... good luck!

Thanks for all your sharing but now I think I will be put in a very bad situation as finally I picked one whom I have to apply from oversea and my second baby will be due in December and my part time local helper will leave in October. I guess even I write to immigation department, my baby may arrive sooner than my helper................
