My DH has just come asking us to pay for her flight back at Easter time to the Philippines. I understand that we owe her a round-trip ticket (she was already here when we hired her) at the end of contract, and are okay to pay for it now rather than the end of contract, but the thing is she actually lives quite some distance from Manila and wants us to pay for 2 flights each way; that is, to Manila, then on another flight to her island, then return.
I know that we are required to pay for her return to "point of origin", but does that mean total distance by flight? If that is what we owe then no problem... it just seems that so many helpers fly to Manila then take a bus or ferry home... does anyone know what is required?
Thanks,

My helpers need domestic flight after reaching Manila, yes I pay for the flight ALL the way home. They COULD take bus.. but that would take them 8 hours.
If there is a domestic flight for her to get home, it's assumed that it's quite a long way from Manila... so requesting a flight all the way home isn't too much to ask.
Domestic flights aren't expensive.
But the point you MIGHT want to negotiate is going home during Easter.... and other days during the year. Easter is EXTRA expensive... my helper is going home, and it costs me $ 3600 HKD round trip to go all the way home including a domestic flight.
So is this her end of contract ticket already? Make sure you ask her to sign that she received the end of contract flight in black and white.

Hi My helper went back last X'mas, and her home town is also far from Manila, takes 8hrs by bus.... She could take domestic flight but they don't have flight everyday so she chose a bus. But I paid her 1000HKD for domesti transportation because that what she told me would cost. So altogether costed around 3,600HKD like Katetam.
