Hope someone can help me ...
1. I've been recommended someone in the Philipines - do I have to use an agency to hire her, and if so can anyone recommend me one?
2. She has no experience as a DH, will this be problem in getting her work visa?

You can hire her without the help of an agency.all you have to do is follow the guidelines stated by the Immigration about hiring a helper from overseas. Having no experience will not cause any problem also with her visa.

Our helper came direct from the Philipines, with no experience (apart from 3 kids of her own), she has now been with us nearly 4 years and is a great helper.

No experience should not be a problem as long as you are prepared to train her, like any employer would do with a new employee. Don't trust to common sense. I hired a very experienced helper and she was sulky and lazy and frankly a waste of space.
