Our new helper starts today (actually she was supposed to start yesterday but was sick).
So, not off to the best start... I really want this helper to work for us. We have not had a finished contract yet. So, with that said I just dont know how to act anymore. Some people say not to be too nice and stay the boss so to speak. Other people say to be welcoming and treat your helper like family... Sometimes when I have been too nice my past helpers have walked all over me (I am young and very un-scary...I think!) Then if I have tried to be more firm I get such attitude and resentful response. What do I do this time?

Did she just come from the Philippines?
If she did, maybe its because of the weather here that she's sick specially when ahe came from the area in the Philippines which is hot
