Our helper has just announced she wants to return home to be with her daughter - giving us the statutory 1 mths notice.
What is our chance of finding a replacement in 4 weeks?
I know that someone finishing a contract will be our best bet as they can stay in HK.
However - does the visa process, still take about 6 weeks?
We have a 20mth old baby and both work. We are considering having to take unpaid leave to cover the gap if we don't find someone in time.
What do others normally do in this situation?

Thanks Ed - I do use the service and hope to find a suitable helper via this website.
My query is more about the immigration timelines and what stopgap measures people use if your helper leaves before the next one can start.

I looked for part time help when it happened to me. You can find helpers looking for part time jobs on this site too. Of course, you have to interview and meet them in person and have a look at your child and feel if you can trust her.
Good luck.

I would definitely take time off, even if the new helper got approved early. I just went thru the same transition & we have a 23 mth son. If anything, I want to observe the new helper for several days to make sure I am comfortable leaving her alone with my child all day. Also, depending how well your child adjusts to the new helper, he may want you around.
