Hello, I am going to let my DH go. I read on some thread that you have to arrange boarding house for them. How do I go about doing this. Also, how do I notify immigration? Do I give the termination letter to the DH or do I need to go to the office myself?

It's not up to you to find them a boarding house. B/c technically speaking, if you give them one month notice, on the day she leaves, she should have a plane ticket to go home. If she chooses to postpone her departure to look for new employer, that's her choice, therefore, it's HER own expenses for whatever she spends for the next 2 weeks.
You should notify the immigration by letter indicating Contract No., and what your name and your helper's name with HKID or passport number that you have terminated her on whatever date. She is supposed to go to the immigration to report if she wants to extend her stay....
That's what I have always heard.....
You can mail the letter to immigration. That's why some helpers beg employers to WAIT a couple of weeks before mailing the letter, that way it gives them more time to find an employer. I disagree with that though, b/c once she's out of your house, you shouldn't still have to be responsible for her... therefore the termination letter notifying immigration should be immediate.
Just my opinion though...

Agreed. You have no responsibility for finding her a boarding house. Likewise she should have no problem finding one. All she needs to do (if she doesn't already have the contacts) is to go where her friends gather on their day off and ask them. Most will know of at least one boarding house opportunity. It can be an issue where a helper is terminated with immediate effect (and paid out the month) and she hasn't had time to consider her accommodation options, but again that's not your responsibility.

When we fired outs, we gave the compulsory 100 travel allowance, return air ticket, outstanding wages plus holiday not taken, plus one months pay in lieu of notice and told her to go back to the agency. They will arrange and sort out housing for her, so you don't need to be concerned. Contact your agent who would be well versed with this. There are a number of papers to get organised, including signed proof from your helper that she has received all of the above, notice to immigration of termination and I'm can't remember if there are other bits and pieces. Good luck!

You are not responsible for her once she is terminated and you have paid what is due.
Besides, the ladies have a network of their own and she will be more than OK to find a boarding house and so on.
