Salary increase for contract renewal?

Hi - we're renewing the contract for our helper. She currently gets $4300 and we're thinking of increasing it to $4500. Is it too little? What's the norm?

I don't think there is any norm, you will no doubt here from people who believe you over pay her as it is and those who like yourself pay your helper a better salary. I would go with what you feel comfortable with and what you can afford. If she's good and you want to keep hold of her a rise is a good way of showing appreciation but it doesn’t need to be a huge rise.
