Hello,
I would like to know if there is a trial period when you hire a helper.
If yes, how long it is ? And how can you break it ? Is it both ways ? How do you do with Immigration ?

Yes TC is right. You can have a so-called practical interview. But as the 'practical' time can only be one day or two, it is difficult to tell whether she is suitable for you. You really need to live with her to find out if she is the right one for her. I know this creates a lot of work for the ID, but why cant we have a probation period of 3 months, just like hiring anyone in an office, i wonder.

I know someone who did a month-long trial with a direct-hire from the Philippines. She sponsered the helper on a tourist visa. They liked each other, signed a contract, the DH went back to the Philippines to await processing. Just a thought.
