Contract ends in August, what to do?

My helper's contract is ending in August 30, how do i go about it? she still has 7 days vacation.


1. Do i need to pay the 7 days in cash OR from august 23 she can be out of my house as long as i have paid her for the months' salary? this way she has time to look for new employer.


2. She is asking me now for release letter NOW, she claims agency needs it so she can find a new employer, is this the common practise?


3. How long before should i inform her that i am not renewing? well, we both know that we don't like each other anymore but just for formality sake.

Hi<

1. You can give her one month's salary in lieu of one month and she is gone. But be sure to get her to sign off on all that you give her, especially any $ for the vacation, plus you will also have to give her the return ticket due under the terms of the contract.

2. She has a MUCH better chance of getting a new job if she has a release letter. Yes, this is a common practice, but you do not have an obligation to give it to her. You can write a non comittal release letter with your phone number if you don't want to write any negative things.

3, This depends on you and what you are comfortable with. If you were going to renew her contact, you would need to begin to process it about now anyway. So now is the time to set your "final day" in the house.
