Hi Soufflequeen, I'm trying to hire a helper direct from the Philippines. I just found out she is 22 (turning 23 in September) and the minimum age requirement is 23 years old. We are willing to wait until Sept. when the kids start school, but since it takes about 6-8 weeks, can we start the hiring process in June? By the time the training and all are finished she'd be 23.

Oopss sorry. I've been very busy with the Writers' Guild I started for all Foreign Domestic helpers.
As far as I know, you can't in the sense that the age limit was set by the Philippine government, not HK. The first thing she will need is a passport and she will not be given one for overseas work purposes until she is 23. In case she already has one, the POEA will reject her application once they see her age. However, I know that some agencies has several tricks up their sleeves, so maybe it could be done.
I wish this helps and wished, too that I'd seen this last Sunday because I was one of the guests in a function where our Labour Attache' was the Guest of Honour. I'll find out more and will get back to you. :)

Are you in HK? We are just going to have our first workshop on June 17. I do not have the complete details with me as I am not in HK right now. However, I could ask our VP or someone else to get in touch with you. Also, I'll send you a private message with an application form and emails/contact numbers.
Do you have some free time? Would you like to get more involve? We need members who are willing to work with us, especially now that we just launched. All our workshops will be for free and will include writing, photography, music, ball room dance/ cultural dance etc. The Guild, by the way is not limited to Filipinos but all other nationals as well and will be THE core of a free monthly magazine published by a foundation where I am one of the Trustees.
