My last helper had been causing me problems for some time, i.e. debt related phone calls, visits etc. I was going to terminate her early, but for various reasons did not, and let her complete the contract. ( I did not however, give her great references when prospective employers with kids called)
Since then ( May) I have had repeated home calls, now mobile calls ( where the hell they got my number I have no idea) and even people turning up at my door asking for her, insisting I am lying for her, telling me i am hiding and protecting her, and mainly, telling me that as I have now employed her sister, I am still liable for her debts. ( I have not employed her sister, I presume she has started this rumour to keep herself out of trouble temporarily)
Long story short- its getting me down, i feel my privacy has been totally violated, I am struggling with the relationship with my new helper as I wonder exactly what she knows of all this ( there are alot of women in our block who have talked to her about this). I am now at the point where I need to do something as the calls are becoming nuisance.
Can I contact immigration and ask where she works? Can I contact the Phillipine Consulate and see what they can do? Will the Police do anything? I have no names, no numbers of callers, just the hassle. Anyone with a similar experience who solved this without changing all their numbers and moving flats?
Advice much appreciated.

Call the Police. Very simple and they will investigate. Harassment for debt whether yours or someone else's is illegal in Hong Kong.

Will the police be able to find out where she lives now? I know she is in HK.

Agreed with the above.
- Tell the callers that she no longer works for you or lives in your home. Tell them nothing else.
- Write down the time of every incident and if possible the name and number of the caller.
- Call the police and report everything.
- Talk to your new helper and ask her how she is doing. Tell her that it will get better (it will). It is important that she doesn't get turned against you.

we had something similar to this happen...lots of calls during dinner hour and late at night on fridays.
ask for their contact numbers. if they do not provide them to you, then say "you obviously aren't interested in hearing from my previous helper then. you are interested in harassing me. i have told you many times i do not know where she is." then state your intention to involve the police.
after i did this, the calls magically stopped, as did the letters. (i wrote a letter and mailed it to the return address on the letter stating that i would be involving the police if the calls did not cease.).
sorry this is happening. what a hassle.
