Proof of employment

We are moving to Hong Kong from Singapore at the end of June. We have a domestic helper here in singapore who has been with us for 6 months. We have decided to bring her with us as she is very good.


I am dealing with an agency as paperwork appeared a nightmare and they seem to be very good so far.


I am being asked for proof of employment for the last two years. Although we have copies of previous work permit which was for 2 years this apparently may not be adequate?


Just wondered if anyone new what documentation is acceptable.


It seems bizarre to me that on one hand the agency is stating that we must prove employment in singapore but work permits are not accepted. Yet on the other had they are saying don't worry we will get a letter 'made up' in the phillipines. Which despite alot of people doing this I have no intention of doing.


Upon checking the immigration website there is nothing to say that we need proof of prior work experience. Only that it could help applications.


Any help would be great.

Bank statements showing monthly salary deposits?

Bank statements (from the payer or the payee) are easiest.



A work permit shows only that one has permission to work. It does not show that one is actually working.

Unfortunatley there are no bank statements as she does not have a bank account. Things are are very different here in singapore helpers do not have to sign for wages and many do not have bank accounts (not even sure they can).


Take point about work permit makes sense now what the agency are asking for. Unlucky for us not much of a paper trail here.

Look for form ID(E)936F which is filled up by the helper. I don't recall submitting anything else aside from that to prove experience/actual employment. Maybe you can ask her previous employers to submit a "certification" that she worked for them for "x" number of years? Or copies of her previous contracts there?
