My part-time helper is amazing and I trust her completly. She has asked me to help her by sponsoring her Sister in law to come to HK and for me to sign her contract.
Any thoughts?

my only thought: are you nuts?
why would her sister in law be any good?

Agreed with the above. Unless you wish to hire the sister-in-law as a second helper and pay her salary+housing, forget it.

it does not mean that if your part time is terrific that her sister-in-law would be the same.
make sure whoever you get as a helper undergo the same scrutiny before hiring them whether or not they are related to your previous or current helper

Not a good idea at all ! As other people wrote it, it's not because your part-time is great that her sister in law will be too.
If things turn out bad, YOU will be the one having BIG problems as this will be illegal.

lets assume she will be full time and will work bloody hard, how does it normally work if you want to get a helper from overseas? You need to go to Manila, mess up your hotel room and ask them to clean it to prove they can do they job?

bigdazza-I suggest you look at Imm websight and read ALL the rules and regulations and the responsibility you take on as an employer, if you are indeed thinking of taking this stranger on to live in your house, and work for you, and only you personally, you cannot sign a contract to get them in and then have them work for anybody else, there are huge fines, the Imm websight will enlighten you to this. Also perhaps look at some of the older threads on this section of the forum to see what potential difficulties you could encounter, If you are considering employing somebody as live-in, fulltime, it would be better if you got them on recommendation from a previous employer-preferably one you can speak to face to face before they leave Hong Kong, Dh's will always recommend a friend or relative, the odd one may be good, but some are notorious for falsifying references- so beware!
