I learned that many Filipina women who live in the city in the Phillipines start learing English when they are 5. In the country, they don't learn until secondary school. If speaking English well is very important to you, you may prefer hiring someone from the city.

i think someone gave u a misinformation. it does not matter where they come, city or country side, it all depends on their capability as an individual. try interviewing applicants, from there u will hear if they are good. Anyways, amongst the asians, filipinos are good in speaking english.

I live in the country side... located at northwestern part of luzon or what they called ilocos norte..only started learning english when i started school.. but end up speaking the language as my mother tongue...

either way i think a good level of english is important. if communication is a hurdle every single day frustration levels go up and everything just gets hard.

alexismith - you mean they are born well off in the city?? In Philippines?? what are you talking about?? prob close to 100% of them are born poor - would that be working here and leaving their families behind if they did not have to????
No difference between country and city in my option, Notyou. I have one of each - english is the same level.
