What's going on?

I just wanted to share my experience and get another perspective. Our helper has been with us for 6 months and resigned. Okay she is not the best helper I've had but not the worst and things have been going well. She seemed happy had all her public holidays days off etc. We have no young children pets etc so i was surprised when she resigned. At first i thought she wanted to go home which of course happens to everyone but she later told me she has found a job with a British family in Discovery Bay. Then this week she asked me for an afternoon off to go for another interview. She tells me that now she has the choice of signing with both of them. Is it so easy for helpers to pick and choose employers in HK? She has not asked me for reference so are people employing helpers without one? She is even happy to stay with us until her flight home which is the two weeks that they have to find a job. I find this so weird i mean if we were so bad she would not want to stay longer then necessary. I think it is really important to check references properly as this has caused us extra expense and trouble.

It doesn't mean that you're bad. It's just normal for your helper to grab better offer. :)

Maybe you should hire a first timer, or someone who'll choose less work & less pay over more work & more pay. :)

I think you should hire me. lols.

Show her the door, she is taking advantage of you whilst she picks and chooses her options. Tell her to go to a boarding house until her flight home. It's not your responsibility anymore. Nip it in the bud now.
