BODY CHECK

Just wanna know what you all think and if anyone has been through this .....

about half a year ago our ex-helper told us she was going to go back to Indonesia so we called up the maid agency to start looking for a new helper. So we finally signed a contract this a new helper and we told the agency we would like to have her do another body check once she arrives in HK even through she passes the one in Indonesia. Well, the day before she was suppose to start working for us the agency told us she didn’t pass the health check! Since she didn’t pass the health check we need to pick another helper, and would have to wait 2 months. If we wanted a local one we would have to pay more. I feel really upset and angry as isn’t it their responsibility to ensure these helpers are healthy and why did she pass the Indonesia Medical test? Does that mean they provide FAKE documents? I could understand if she had a cold, swine flu… but she had hepatitis C…… or did she possibly get in the 2 weeks shes been here ?

Thanks for you replys! Do you think I can make a complain ~ make a report to HK government aware of this so that both employers and employees(helpers in this case) are not cheeted...... well meaning that at least the government is aware of such practise. I think the poor helper come all the way just to find out that she can't work and now I have to figure out what to do for these 2 months with my kids ( as both my hubby and I work full time~ we are just lucky i own my own business and he has felxible hours so we can arrange something at the moment ) but regardless it's just troublesome!

When we were doing our contracts for our maid, we wrote in a clause," pending good result of medical" before anybody signed it to protect us. Will the agency concerned provide another helper without further cost? is there any type of insurance they have to cover the event of not being able to provide a healthy FDH, if so try negotiating with them to supply a temporary helper, while you wait for your permanent one. If after that you not getting much assistance from the agency, then write to embassy, press etc, the helper they brought here with Hep C is virtually un-employable, hope they don't try and pass her onto some un-knowing employer to cut their costs. Good luck with your search.
