My maid wants to resigned tomorrow and offer to pay 1 month salary. She is leaving for Canada on Saturday. No option left for us but to let go of her. We pay her every 18th of the month. Work for us for 11 months.Have 2 weeks leave in the Philippines during that period. We pay for her 1 one way airfare. If we accept the 1 month salary that she offers us. Do we still need to pay her the salary from the 15th of Oct to Nov.5. Also should we buy her a plane ticket. Pls help as I am very confuse and trouble with the short notice given to us to look for a replacement.

Out of curiosity, didn't you suspect that she'd applied for job? I thought that for Canada a previous employer's reference is the must. Besides, I heard she has to have worked for at least 1 full year before applying, but in your case is 11 months. Please, share your information.

I'm her second employer. She had 4 yrs experience with Chinese employer. She never asked for reference from us. I assume she must have applied before for Canada before we employ her. I have no idea how long it takes for the processing of their visa.I am very naive since we have no problem at all. She once receive a letter from Canada that I got from our mailbox but I never suspect anything. She is our first maid. We've been living in HK for only 11 months and 2 weeks.
