would appreciate information about getting insurance for a hong kong resident part-time helper. want to do it all legally and fairly. do i need medical insurance or just cover in case of accidents in the work place? is it my responsibility to organise this or should the salary reflect these incurred costs? thanks for your help.

There are DH insurance packages. They provide you with comprehensive or basic packages. You might want to try Hang Seng Bank. I know they offer them at competitve prices. Another DH insurance company is Venhouse Insurance. Since insurance is required for full time and part time DH, I'm sure they have packages for them also. Good luck.

Since the hiring of Part-time foreign DH is illegal and the government DOES require the employer to have insurance for both full time and part time help, I'm assuming it's referring to local part-time DH. So, I suppose the employer IS required to provide the insurance even for DH that are legal HK residents as well.
