Has anyone hired a helper who was terminated by their previous helper? how long is the procedure? I have heard it takes 6 wks but can be expedited but don't know how fast?

8 weeks at least! Helper has to return to their home country.

Unless you write a letter explaining your urgent need for that helper to start immediately - we did it in less than a month.

Less than a month means three wks kittycat? I have been told by some ppl that it takes 5 wks even when urgent, don't know if that is true for most helpers.

It was two years ago, but I'm sure it was less than a month - OK, just checked the papers, our helper resigned at the start of June, but stayed until we found a replacement. We had a week of handover between the two and the first helper left on 27th June. It must have been 3 weeks or even a bit less. BUT, I had to write a grovelling letter to Immigration, and I think the reason for early termination of the contract (for the replacement helper) has to be financial reasons or employer relocating, something like that. What reason does your new helper have for being terminated?

Certainly exercise caution with a terminated helper. However it should be noted that many employers terminate their helpers even if the helper is doing a good job. It is not always the helper's fault.

I really like her as a person and have tried her out for a few days. I can tell she is a good person, I wish I didn't have to wait so long for her to start because I need someone urgent. Her reason for termination was that her previous employer would follow her around but I am not like that and trust my helper to work on her own and have her space. She is so young and sweet, I really like her the only problem is that I would have to wait a month and that makes me think twice about hiring her otherwise I would do it in a heart beat. I need someone urgent. Actually if anyone is looking for a helper pls pm me, give this girl a chance if you can wait. I have tried her and she is very good in work. Her visa expires on this saturday.
