Has anyone taken their DH for a day trip to Shenzen? If so, any idea as to the visa price? Thanks.

Thanks. Any hassle associated...i.e. is it pretty much 100% that the'll issue the visa for a Filipina helper or are they pretty stringent/stingy with issuing? Basically I'm hoping to not get there and have the 'application' refused.

I took my helper up for the day since she had never been in 19 years in hk. She went down to one of the common visa agencies and got her visa before we went. Take a copies of her contract etc that they sometimes need when reentering the country to be on the safe side.

Agree that it is better to get the visa in advance. It eliminates any uncertainty. And it also means you don't have to spend precious Shenzhen shopping time waiting for your helper while her visa is processed at the border.

The reason I said to take contract information is not for the China visa at the border - it is so that when they are coming back into Hong Kong they do not get loads of grief from their immigration people. This can be especially true if you are coming through different lines depening on the employers visa status.

Went there last Thursday with my helper and got a Visa for $150.00 in ten minutes, no questions asked.
