has anybody employed a terminated helper?
We have done the interview, spoken to the last employer etc. Her contract is over on the 15th of Feb. Can we hand in a contract now and what else do we do? i tried to speak to immigration but they were very unclear?
thanks

get copies of contract, her id, passport, and other needed papers, and her termination letter or notice, your requirements as employer, her plane ticket back (you have to buy her this only and not a round trip as she will have a ticket togo home from her previous employer) and have it verified by the phil consulate (if pilipino), then as soon as she finishes her notice, send papers to I.
helper goes home to wait for visa, takes about a month , and comes back when everything is ready.

I thought we cannot process on our own for "terminated" helpers. You must use an agency to do it.
That's my case twice. We can only process on our own without agency IF and ONLY IF the helper is finished contract, OR direct hiring.. but lots of trouble and time consuming. but for terminated helpers, I was told time and time again, you have to get an agency to do the papers. AND, not every agency is willing to process terminated helpers.

ms1: her new contract (the one you are suppose to sign) AND her old one, i think you have to pass papers like proof of income, proof of address, copy of id, you can call the consulate to check.
the IM will send you a notice when her visa is ready for pickup. you then send it to her to her philippine address so she can get her OEC from her local phil overseas employment agency (poea). she has to pay a 100US for her processing fee and her owwa membership fee of 2175php there. you have to reimburse her tho. there is a philippine govt official reciept for this too.
if you need any more help you can send me a msg thur here and i can give you more detail.
as for the pregnancy: if she an experienced helper she would/shouldknow better than to get preggers.
if you have any doubts about this you can have the papers processed byan agency as require a medical exam before the helper leaves php. but if it is a name hire she usually wont be require by the POEA unless she has been in the php for longer than 3months.
katetam: you can process a helper terminated or finish contract by yourself. i know because i got fired before and my new boss and i have processed my papers by ourselves.

applebubble, thanks for the info. I wonder why I was told such information by 3 different agencies, and at least 6 helpers.
Terminated helpers don't want to use agencies either because they have to pay the agency fee, but we end up using agency because there are a lot of questions, and procedures to follow up, and who will do the following up in the Philippines without an agent?

Agreed with Katetam, it's better to use an agency to do the follow-up and paper processing.

hi, the price you are stating is correct, i checked with a few agencies too and they gae the same cost. Try to bundle a replacement option also in the price, in case your terminated helper turns out bad. I presume you have done a ref check with old employer; when i last interviwed a terminated helper she had a bad reference from her employer and that saved me from signing her
