Spare bedroom for thehelper

I,m soon moving into a 3 bedroom place and my family(hubby&kids) will only be using 2 of them. Helpers room is tiny and no a/c so I,m thinking of offering her the 3rd bedroom. Has anyone else done this and how is it working out?

We have done it. It seems like the only natural thing to do. How bad would I feel making a person under my employment sleep in a tiny cupboard-like room, while there was a spare room doing nothing? Pretty bad.

Showing your helper that they are worth their own reasonable space can only be a good thing in terms of your future relationship.

I agree with AlexandraK that you should not hesitate doing it.


Many helpers will not want to do it though since the helper's room, small as it may be, in many apartments offers more privacy.


If she will sleep in the helper's room you can in most cases install an A/C unit for a few thousand.

My DH sleeps in the spare room too. Though she uses a powerful fan instead of a/c. she prefers that herself. During the day my kids play in that room and its called a playroom,but at night its all hers and she has her privacy too.

I have also given my helper one of the spare rooms. I used the tiny helpers room and bathroom as storage space.
