It's not common and is actually illegal unless you can persuade immigration there are overriding reasons for this arrangement.

You can do by going through the labour department. You are most likely to get a Cantonese speaker, but even they are difficult to come by. Have tried and they never had anyone available. There have been a few posters here who have done so successfully though.

i am a live out helper. legal of course. my employers have a very small 3 bedroom house and no room for me. i dont know how they did it but the got permission for me to live out providing they pay for my accomodations.
