We are urgently trying to find a nanny for a couple of weeks ie preferably a professional nanny or someone mature and experienced enough to take care of a toddler. If you are a nanny and want a couple of weeks work or got a contact who has experience in this area, please contact me on. Tks.

I've noted the helpers advertising on this site seem to be largely long-term contract seekers.

Word of advice for those looking for part time help.
Most helpers in Hong Kong are not legally allowed to work part time - we do not allow helpers to post their availability on this site for part time for exactly that reason.
We know for a fact that the immigration looks for these type of ads whether they be online or on a bulletin board in a shop - and they will prosecute and jail the helpers if they find them working part time illegally.
If you need a part time helper we do have a section for you to request help - we STRONGLY recommend that you hire a helper who has authorization to work part time - or you use one of the part time agencies advertising here....
If you are caught employing an illegal part time helper you will be fined and you could end up with a criminal record.
I was not aware of any of this when I first came to HK but our helper manager informed me that there are loads of helpers serving 3 month sentences in jail for working part time illegally - they are then deported for good when their sentence expires... plenty of expats have been fined (I hear the number is 50k) for employing illegals...

Ed, if you read my message properly, you will note I am asking for a "Nanny' for a couple of weeks ie preferably a professional nanny or someone mature and experienced enough to take care of a toddler". Nannies can work part-time.
I am not looking for an illegal domestic helper as suggested in your msg!

I get both of your points, Ed and WWcC, but you do realize WWcC that you've posted in the 'Domestic Helper advice forum' don't you?? If you are looking to hire a nanny, there are plenty of sites that can let you post a free advert to access your chosen professional. I'm actually surprised that Ed left this one up!

We don't have a section that allows people to post their requirements for a helper because that would be a disaster for our members and we do not thing it would be at all useful
If we had such a section and you put your telephone number on this site I daresay your phone would not stop ringing day and night as helpers called seeking employment...
Instead what we do is dedicate 3 staff to meeting with the close to 1000 helpers each month who come to our office to place ads to find a job. Our staff assists each of them with filling out standard forms that indicate work experience and other bio-data - we also upload reference letters from past employers... and we provide a searchable database that allows you to find the most appropriate candidates.
We feel this is a far better way to find a helper than simply posting your phone number on a message board and fielding 'blind' calls from helpers....

Or you could post an ad here http://jobs.asiaxpat.com/
