We have noted numerous complaints on our forums from members indicating that our helper agency is not responding to emails/telephone calls.
We have checked extensively with Evelyn looking at her junk mail, email log history etc... and we can find no evidence of this.
We have people manning the DH division 7 days a week including public holidays so although the occasional call might not be picked up, it is highly unlikely a client will have recurring problems contacting our staff.
We also have directly contacted the members who made the complaints asking them to get back to us with details - not one of them have responded.
We have also asked them to call our HK GM to lodge a proper complaint - not one phone call.
This of course is rather suspicious so we did a database search and we note that one agency is recommended again and again on these forums complete with the telephone number, usually in brackets following the name.
We also find it strange that no other agencies ever receive recommendations - only this one over and over...
We have decided we will delete all mention of this agency from the site regardless of if they are behind these complaints and possible self promotion.
A little background on how the agencies in Hong Kong have reacted to our putting helpers directly in touch with employers - and our subsequent agency launch.
Nearly 10 years ago our helper channel was becoming extremely popular with both helpers who found agencies a necessary evil. There are endless stories of agencies overcharging desperate helpers with some agencies losing licences and ending up with criminal prosecutions.
As agency business was impacted by our helper channel, suddenly one of the consulates introduced a rule that said helpers needed to have an agency chop even if they go their new employer without the agencies help.
I personally made a call to the consulate and spoke to the second in command. They of course denied they were doing this (as one would expect) but we know for a fact this was happening. I informed them that if it didn’t stop we’d inform the ICAC… it stopped immediately so go figure.
The next tactic we encountered was numerous situations where helpers listing on our site received crank phone calls that included threats and solicitations for sex. We involved the HK police in this and all this nonsense soon stopped.
Then someone reported us to the govt department that handles DH agencies in HK. We were accused of illegally operating an agency without a licence. We had to go through hurdles to explain that we were not operating an agency – we were only an advertising medium.
At this point we had had enough of all of this so we decided to launch our own agency so that our members who needed help would get it without having to deal with these companies.
We hired Evelyn and we decided to undercut all agencies fees and we decided we would charge the helpers NOTHING if we found them a job.
It seems we now have agencies spamming the site with ads/recommendations.
And even more ominously, they are attempting to ruin our agency business by posting negative comments about Evelyn and her work ethic.
Going forward we will not accept any posts recommending any maid agencies.
We strongly recommend that you avoid these agencies for the reasons I have posted above.
Evelyn will guarantee ethical agency services and low prices so we’d recommend that you use her services.
Now I will go have an ice cold Molson to stop the smoke from coming out of my ears!!!!
