Bringing a Helper over on Tourist/Visitor Visa

Hi,

We are new to Hong Kong and have been given a recommendation for a new helper. She has actually never worked in HK before- only in Australia. We are trying to bring her over quickly. Her passport will be renewed and ready on the 12th. Do we have to wait to get her permanent visa (4-6 weeks) or can we bring her over on a temp visa and then process the paperwork then? Thanks :)

Its a work visa not permanent visa.

You can just wait for her, Cause you can't process a working visa while she is here in hk.

But why would she wanna be here in hk when she can earn better in Australia?

She had to come back home - her husband was in an accident. And her visa expired in Australia.

Since its her first time to come and work her, she might take longer than 4 weeks. The Philippine government requires some training before coming here. She'll be here Maybe in 2-3 months.

I have a neighbor here that lets the helper came here on a tourist visa then sign the contract and exit to macau which is faster than being in the Philippines.
