My helper has been very good since the moment my baby was born. She knows the technical part really well: how and when to feed him, how to bathe and dress him up properly for different weather conditions, and so on.
However, now that my baby turned 9 months, he get bored easily as all babies do. Naturally, it is necessary to entertain him otherwise he gets upset. He doesn't cry with tears but he mumbles (is this the correct word?) all the time. The helper doesn't do much about it even in font of me. She says that he doesn't want to play. The point is he doesn't know how to play. She should change toys, change atmosphere, well moms and dads know those sorts of things when you have to "dance" around the baby all the time.
My question is: is there a company in HK that would offer this kind of training? I find showing this to her and even writing it down useless as she sems to not understand. Actually, she says that he is not crying. Yes. there are no tears but he is unhappy.
I HAVE TO work till 3pm Mon-Fri and it looks like I'd have to fire her if she doesn't learn how to entertain the baby. Note: she is not busy doing domescit chores when left alone with the baby.
Some useful ideas please...

I think it is a problem for most of us, working mothers. But the truth is, i dont know how to enterntain my kids either! so I made sure they have planned activities - playgroups and kindergarden (3 afternoons a week) - so they do something creative. Something like Montessouri school (mine go to one of those) take babies from 12 months (with helper or parent present of course). Good for helper too - gives her ideas on what she can do with the baby.

Hi Nuri,
The YWCA offers training courses to helpers teaching them how to entertain babies and toddlers. I sent a previous helper of mine on the course and it was pretty good, she came back with a whole load of handouts to refer to after the course had finished.
Examples include: Baby Signs workshop for helpers Mon 3 March $1010
Early childcare & development course, 2-16 Apr, $1085
Hands-on training workshop 'teach her how to spend quality time with your baby/toddler and initiate learning opportunities inside and outside the home"
19 Feb - 4 Mar $1685 (Since this course has begun, I think if she just attends the last 2 sessions you would only pay pro rata, but I'm not sure.)
