Courses for DH - Feedback?

ORIGINAL POST

Hi All

We are hiring a new helper to look after our baby and cook/clean. She is quite experienced, but we want to send her on some courses - first aid and maybe baby/toddler care/play and some cooking courses (if needed).

I have searched this forum but not found what I am looking for.

This is the closest, but over a year old: http://hongkong.asiaxpat.com/forums/domestichelpers/threads/66307.asp

Has anyone sent their domestic helper on any courses that they would recommend (remember, we can't say negative things on AsiaXPat)

First Aid, Cooking, Childcare, etc...

If so please advise:

Name of Course

Course Provider Details

Positive Feedback

(any negative feedback, please send me a PM)

Thanks!!

cri, if you get the magazine called "dollar saver" they have lots of tips and adverts for helper training. The best training i feel is the training that you give her. Believe me, it is very frustrating to train from scratch but please remain persistent, then you can have the house and the baby sorted the way you really want.

Hi SSN - yes, I do get the Dollar Saver and looked through those adverts to get some of the links above.

I will the basic training on how to run our house, but I can't train her in first aid and cpr or other specific childcare issues that I myself am not an expert in.

A friend just told me the 12 hour Annerley course was very good and covered hygeine, safety, steralising, food prep and other issues and she feels her helper really learned a lot and is constantly washing her hands!

I found the YWCA cooking courses truely awful and ended up teaching my helper myself.
