DH contract length of term

We are moving to Hong Kong for a relatively short term (one year). all of the contract terms I have seen are listed for 2 year contracts. Is it OK to offer a one year contract? Or are 2 years a requirement of some sort?

I assume it would be better for the helper to "finish" a contract even if it is shorter than to show a terminated contract (even if it is due to the employers move).

Any info appreciated.

You can sign the two year contract..and If you are leaving before, contact can be called as "mutually over"....in that case your helper does not have to leave HK before joining another household.

Thanks. I had forgotten how it works and want to set things up as best possible for later. I appreciate the replies.
