What does this term mean? I have had several DH's tell me that their previous employers did this once they were terminated. Maybe so they have to leave Hong Kong right away?

This is a sort of catch phrase for the finish of the contract.

Legally a DH has 2 weeks after the last day working with an employer. As an employer you serve notice to IMD when the DH leaves your employ. This is why you need to buy an open ticket, b/c she can technically leave 2 weeks after she finishes with you. I just had a friend whose DH left her, she bought a fixed ticket for the next day and the girl now wants to change the date and is asking the employer to give her another $500 to pay the ticket change penalty. The agency called her and told her that. She is furious and isn't going to pay.
