As of April 21st, 2022, dine-in services have been extended to 10 pm, and table service has been increased to four from the previous two. Additionally, banquets can welcome up to 20 people which is great news. These are just a few of the changes announced by the government, so let’s see what our friends at Pacific Prime Hong Kong have to say.
The current rule about public gathering
Currently, public gatherings have been relaxed to four from the previous two, and household restrictions concerning more than two households have been lifted. If you’re caught gathering in groups of more than the permitted number mentioned, there will be a fine of HKD $25,000 and imprisonment for six months. However, the exemptions to the rule include:
- Gatherings for public transportation purposes;
- Groups performing any governmental duties;
- Groups gathering at a place of work or within hospital and healthcare facilities;
- Individuals living in the same household;
- Legal proceedings in a court;
- Funerals and any other related occasions for mourning; and
- When taking photos during events or group activities, as long as everyone is wearing face masks.
Hong Kong Vaccine Pass

When traveling around in public and accessing specific premises in Hong Kong, you’ll need to present a vaccine pass. The vaccine pass scheme is a program that allows only vaccinated or exempted residents to enter specific premises, including restaurants, shopping centers, wet markets, and supermarkets. You’ll need to use the government’s “Leave Home Safe” risk-exposure app to enter the premises.
