Anyone know a good bakery for children's cakes/cupcakes?

if you have an oven, and a bit of patience - I have great cupcake recipe, simple with US measurements. I just made them this weekend for my daughters 1st birthday - and they came out really well. 12 cupcakes, 30 minutes from ingredients to oven and then an additional 10 minutes for frosting.

I made 40 (yes 40) cupcakes for my little one's second birthday. Betty Crocker's "yellow" cake. Delicious and moist and day before is fine (just cover with plastic in the fridge and remove an hour before serving). I used yellow icing and out a manufactured sugar duck or fish on each of them (Wilton's ???spelling) that I bought at a cake supply shop. Used the larger patty cases. A real hit and a snap to make. Our local bakery charges $12 each and they taste revolting. My little one eats $12 of icing and biffs the cake! All the best. So much nicer if you make your own! :)

HKchoichoi & Green,
can you PM me the recipe? I have a new foster child and will like to make these cakes for him.
Thanks.

If you don't want to make them, Complete Deelite do cakes and cupcakes. I believe they will make uniced ones so you can finish them yourself. It also sells everything you would need for icing, including colour writers and sprinkles.
I haven't tried them myself as I make my own - such as butterfly cakes with buttercream filling.

Consider making the cupcakes in the mini molds available from places like Complete Deelite and the Pantry Magic Stores. We often get sent in beautiful cakes at school for children's birthdays but they mostly eat the brightly coloured icing off and dump most of the cake. Especially the big cakes that often come from Complete Deelite. Lovely cakes - just too much for the under 7's to eat. If they really like the little ones they can always come back for more. Use the same recipe just cook for less time.
