It's that time of the year again and the bugs our out. I spread RID all over my kids before they even step foot out the door but it's inevitable, they always get bitten. My 5 year old more so than my 3 year old.
Needless to say, my daughter is breaking out in bites all over her body. It's like they just jump from area to area. I have the Mopiko anti itch ointment but when she's scratches and breaks the skin that cream really stings to put on.
Does anyone have know or have any other suggestions or things I can use that may be better and more soothing? The bites are litterally all over her body, down her back, down her legs and arms. I don't know what I can possibly do.
Thanks in advance..

Calamine lotion, if you can find it.

Try Parapic (got it in Switzerland but they may have it here). A good combo is to first use After Bite (buy it at Watson's) right after the mosquito bite and then the next day start applying Mopiko. Always works for my family.

It would be great if I could find Calimine lotion here or even Aveeno anti itch cream. Surely will pick some up during my holiday but looking for an immediately action. I will try the After Bite stuff, heck I will try anything!!
Thanks for the suggestions.

I also attract biting insects, and have a nasty reaction to them, I have been advised to take oudourless garlic tabs daily, and also vitamin B1,, it is supposed to build up some odour on the skin which only insects can smell and they don't like, also use a mozzy spray ssuitable for use on the skin before going out, they still bite me but the reaction isn't as bad.To treat the atual bite, try anthisan (antihistamine) cream, and anthisan tablets, but check with the pharmasist they are suitable for children first, I think you can get it in medicine form for small children, I once had 70+ bites in one go while holidaying in Austarlia, which swelled to 5 inches in diameter, so I hate the things, and will go all out to prevent them. We move out to HK later this year from UK so would be pleased if anybody knows where to get my continuing bite potions from on Lantau. Good luck

I am always savaged by mozzies and find Stingose to be really good itch relieving stuff (although it dries to flaky white on the skin which is not so glam).
Its a red and white tube - I think I saw some in the chemist in IFC (Watsons or Mannings), the one near the glass doors that open out to where Triple O's is. Sorry for the vague directions!

i have been using a cream (it is actually clear) called SOOV by a australian company called EGO - it is pharmacy medicine found I think Mannings (but it might have been watsons - sorry cant recall). It also has an antispetic and it seems to stop the itch for a few hours.

Susie> firstly yikes!! (and cring) at the 70+ mega bites, no pun intended. Secondly, I am from the UK and miss Waspeze which is not available here. Otherwise there will be a number of suitable products here. Including the remarkable Pak Fa Yeow (White Flower Oil) which is a local remedy for nearly everything.

Eurax - available over the counter at the hospital pharmacies or in the big pharmacies with the Rx outside. White and pale purple tube. Excellent ant itch and non sting. Why not also ask if she can take some kiddie clarytne syrup when she has so many bites to help stop the reaction and inflammation.

I use Anthisan too. I was outdoors in DB for less than 3o minutes and have several bites that have turned into ugly red bumps.
Try Worldwide House for Calamine lotion (Caladryl) and Johnson & Johnson mosquito repellent-- smells a lot better than OFF

Mannings and Watson's both sell a calamine lotion cream called Caladryl. My daughter's pediatrician recommended it. It contains menthol to helps ease the itch. Its not found in the mosquito bite section, so you might have to ask a store clerk for it. Its in a tube and works great on both me and my daughter.

You should look at prevention in the first instance and remedies such as citronella or other fragrances which deter mosquitoes. You might stop the itching with an anti-preritic but there's always the risk of picking up a mosquito-borne disease if you don't make every effort to prevent the bites in the first place.

Thanks you everyone for the product detail. Have picked up a few already. Hecules..prevention, I think I am queen of prevention and to be honest I don't think it's the mosquitos that are getting her. I lather my children with RID before they go out, put on the repellant patch and I even bought the repellant bracelet the other day. I also have the repellant plugs in their rooms...I think it's something else that is biting..
Needless to say, it's gotten better but she's still getting bitten.

Have you called an exterminator in to talk to them? You may have some sort of infestation.
Not to talk down to you either but are you certain it's not an allergic reaction to something? Urticaria mimics bites sometimes.

try Mopiko Ointment (ordinary version is enough).
