am travelling to phuket/bkk soon with bubs. how is it now with liquids in the airports? i want to bring through sterilised bottles with boiled water to make formula on the plane. what is the proceedure now? don't really want to be opening and drinking that water for security cos then it won't be sterlised any more! and if we can't bring the water through, are you able to sterilise and get boiled water on the plane?

HK airport has no objections, but bangkok airport is strict. you might have problems on the way back. at hk airport if you tell them that you have water for the baby, they don't object.

Not sure if this will apply at BKK but recently when we went to Sydney my daughter (3) had a bottle of apple juice she had not finished. I was told at the airport that if it was my son's (18mo) we could keep it as the limit only applies for those over 2yrs. Consequently, told them it was his but if the 2yo limit applies you should be fine!

my baby was 6 months old - they object to water that's not in a feeding bottle. They threw the exrta bottle of water away. this was just one month back.

I have travelled a lot since the liquids ban in and out of HK, China and UK. So far no-one has questioned me carrying water for baby. I do make sure it's in the bottles though ( I carried 6 bottles filled with water for long hauls)

The other option is to purchase Wildap (spelling needs to be checked) baby water. Available at Park N SHop.

I carried that unopened on the plane for my son. They did not object.

I have travelled with a baby previous to the liquids ban but used the hot water they use for tea and coffee. I had the stewardess wash out the bottle with the hot water then refill it to a certain level. It is very hot so I let it sit for about 3 hours until the next feed then put the formula in. the water is boiled originally and is so hot that I thought it must be sterile. This also cut down on bringing many bottles and water.

I travelled a few times with my two kids since this liquid restriction has been implemented. I worried a lot before that ( I am sure you will find lots of threads on this topic a few months back).... then I just travelled as I always did. Thermos of hot water (500 ml) and 1 bottle with cold water in it.... never was I once stopped by customs.....

Makes one worry though.... the reason for this restriction, and how "laxed" it is.... what's the point?

But I am happy I got to go on the plane with all the water I needed for baby... b/c I didn't want to have to worry him risking bad stomach at the beginning of a trip.

BUT- I know this restriction (how laxed it is) depends what your destination is. It seems USA, UK, and Thailand would be more strict.
