Hi - I've heard that you can buy these dehumidifying bars or rods that you plug in inside your closet (fortunately our closets have a power point in them). Does anyone know where they're sold? We're coming up to our first summer in HK, so don't really know what to expect/what's required to deal with the humidity. I know where we can buy the standard dehumidifiers, just want to know about these closet ones.
Thanks for the help!

Wing On in Sheung Wan should have them in their household dept.

They are not dehumidifier bars, but simply heating rods.
Where do you live? Most places in HK don't need these. Indeed I've only ever heard of my ex-pat friends installing these. All they do is heat up your cupboard - no effect on humidity levels or mould.

Just use the dehumidifying packs you can get in Japan Home and Price Rite. Just plastic tubs with a compound inside that absorbs the moisture. They work very well and best of all they are cheap

30 per month? That is a serious amount. At 3 for $18 that's $180/month or P'n'S do some at $4.90 each which is $147/month. Not expensive at all. But mine last 2 - 3 months a time.
As mentioned above the heated rods don't work at all, but every year we hear people have been recommended them and buy them, expats only!
Now why 4 dehumidifiers? That's a lot actually. What you will find is that in the summer you will be using air con which dehumidifies the air anyway, pretty much negating the need for dehumidifiers. Just keep windows closed and all ok.

In my dressing room there are six wardrobes. One has a heating rod, the others don't. Clothes in the 'heated' wardrobe stay dry and there is no mould smell, unlike the others, in which I'm frequently having to replace dehumidifying sachets which don't work brilliantly. I don't want to constantly run the air-con or a dehumidifer as the air dries out too much (dressing room leads off from bedroom).
Heating bar seems to work for me...

Hi - thanks to all of you for the replies. I've got a better idea now of what I might need.
